Non Verbal Therapy

Research shows that Art and other Expressive therapeutic services are at the forefront of non-verbal reliant therapies, and should be the first measure taken when individuals are unable to verbally communicate, and for those who struggle to communicate their thoughts and feelings with words alone.

Art Therapy allows for individuals to express themselves to the therapist without a need for words. Making art is therapeutic in and of itself, but also provides an avenue with which information can be garnered by trained professionals based on the materials used and images depicted, providing the therapist with a greater understanding and insight of the individual as a whole.

At ATIC we are the first center to provide Art Psychotherapy as a form of non-verbal support. We support the following but are not limited to:

  • Selective Mutism

  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Non-verbally reliant individuals
  • Resonates with individuals preferred mode of communication
  • Family and caregiver support – we also facilitate parent/child interaction and group programmes.
